Early morning light breaking through the Amazon rainforest canopy near a dark river. The air is thick, the trees enormous, mist hanging between the trunks. BACK

Tauary, Amazon rainforest, Brazil

Tauary, a small village on the edge of the Amazon, state of Amazonas, Brazil. Dawn in the rainforest, close to a small river. The birds begin before the light comes. Toucans call. Then other birds, layered and overlapping, the rainforest waking up in its particular order. The river is under everything — a constant low presence. The air is wet and close. Ten minutes of it, but complete. Recorded with Brüel & Kjær 4006 microphones in an AB pair configuration on a Sound Devices 633. Over twelve thousand downloads on Freesound. Some recordings don't need to be long.
