Kanaalpark, 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands
Kanaalpark, on the edge of 's-Hertogenbosch in the southern Netherlands. A city park in autumn — the canal beside it, the water moving slowly, birds crossing the surface. Coots call out. Ducks move through the reeds at the edge, which stir and settle in the wind. Further away, muffled by distance, a football match is in progress: crowd noise rising and falling in waves, the sudden shout of a near-miss, then the low murmur of the crowd resuming. The traffic on a nearby road runs steady and low underneath everything, holding the whole scene in place. Recorded with Sennheiser MKH 30/50 microphones in MS configuration by klankbeeld. Still, clean, present. The kind of recording that makes an ordinary Wednesday afternoon in a city park feel quietly extraordinary.
