Ban Na Tin village, Krabi, Thailand
Ban Na Tin, a village on the edge of Krabi Province, southern Thailand. The rains come at the end of the day. First, a change in the air — a stillness between gusts, the sounds of the village pulling back. Then the rain begins: on leaves, on earth, on wide corrugated roofs. The sound grows heavier and heavier. Thunder moves across the hills, deep and rolling, close enough to feel in the chest. The water finds every surface. Gutters overflow. The village disappears inside the sound of it. Recorded by felix.blume with Schoeps CCM4 microphones in ORTF configuration on a Sound Devices 633. Thirty-five minutes of rain and thunder, seamlessly looped.
